In 1968, Christian Guignard seduced by a concept found in the United States of restaurants on the theme of red meat, is launching the first steakhouse Hippopotamus in Paris, located 6 avenue Franklin-Roosevelt. This restaurant still exists, and is now considered as the lighthouse and symbol of the brand. In february 1992, Flo Group acquired Hippopotamus from its founders and Rallye Casino Group.
Christian Guignard then starts looking for new themes and partnering with Maite Marquebieille, Jacki Dudemaine and Chef Hervé Dos Santos to open L'Appart. Few years later they opened Spicy, not far away (8 avenue Franklin Roosevelt) in December 1997.
In September 2001, Spicy is taken by Jean-Philippe and Pierre-Francois Blanc who still run the business today.
In September 2007, Spicy is converted in the style of a villa and becomes Villa Spicy.
